How do I set up my budget?

Open Budget on your dashboard, set a total, and split it across categories in rupees. Eight are there to start; add your own. Record what you have paid against each, and the Overview shows spent against planned.

Budget starts with eight categories, from venue and catering to photography and decor. Change the names, delete what you do not need, and add lines for anything else. The placeholder for a new line is a hint about what people forget: the poruwa and the ashtaka.

Planned against paid

• Planned is what you expect to spend on a line.
• Paid is what has actually gone out. Deposits count.
• The Overview shows the two side by side, so you can see the gap before it becomes a problem.

When you mark a saved vendor Booked, the app offers to put the amount into the matching budget line, so the price you agreed and the budget you are tracking do not drift apart.
