The train from Kandy is worth taking.

It is probably the best place in Sri Lanka for one. The scenery does the work, so you need very little decoration, and Nine Skies can be taken as a whole for a party of ten.
Nuwara Eliya if you want colonial grandeur and a guest list up to 300. Ella if you want mountain drama and something small, up to 60. Nuwara Eliya is colder and more formal, Ella warmer and more relaxed.
Three easy ones: Little Adam's Peak in 45 minutes, the Nine Arch Bridge when the train crosses, and a tea factory tour. Ella Rock is a longer climb, and Yala is 2.5 hours if anyone wants a safari.
Yes, it sits at a crossroads. Kandy is 3.5 hours, Nuwara Eliya two, and the south coast around Galle about 4.5. A common route is to marry here and honeymoon on the coast, or the other way round.
